And that’s a clever title as, like the label, the music they love fuses many styles. These guys could equally been called Soulanova, Jazz-funkanova, Popanova, Acid-jazzanova, Latinanova. Northernsoulanova or Bloodybrilliantcelestialgalaxyanova!

It’s somewhat surprising that this is only their second proper album as they are probably best known for the much admired compilations The Remixes 1997-2000 and The Remixes 2002-2005 reworking Masters At Work, Fat Freddys Drop, 4Hero, Marcos Valle, Azymuth and many more.

With Gilles Peterson as an supporter from the very start, Jazzanova not only got their debut live gig at the recent Worldwide Awards, they have also been able to call on the talents of Peterson’s Brownswood label, José ‘The Dreamer’ James and Ben ‘Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life’ Westbeech.

But lets call in some major superstars like Leon Ware (after his appearance with Liquid Spirtits), Dwele (Sketches Of A Man, Some Kinda), Fat Freddy Drop’s Joe Dukie (Recloose, The Nextmen, Boozoo Bajou) and our absolute favourite Far Out Latin jazz gods, Azymuth.

Paul Randolph has consistently been one of our favourites at FLY with guest appearances with Wahoo, Isoul8, John Arnold and it’s great to hear the beautiful vocals Bémbé Ségué (she of Junkyard Gods, Breakthrough, Da Lata, Bugz, Silhouette Brown and many more including Jazzanova’s favourite ‘Mother Of The Future’).

The band Jazzanova are being signed up for UK festival dates for the summer as well as restarting their Kaleidoskop club sessions in Berlin and bringing DJ sets to UK clubs throughout the first part of the year to spread the Of All The Things word.

Oh! Did I mention, every track is brilliant - essential album of the year!
