Jean Michel Jarre - Teo & Tea

A dark and moody album from the electronic pioneer Jean Michel Jarre. No one expected another Oxygene, and it isn’t

Jean Michel Jarre - Teo & Tea

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Téo & Téa is a predominantly instrumental album with the occasional voiceover and (presumably) faked orgasm. It was never going to please all the Oxygene purists but that is testament to that album’s strengths rather than this one’s weaknesses. It is over 30 years since Oxygene’s release and the ease with which many of the tracks on ‘Téo & Téa’ could slip into the latest God’s Kitchen or Fabric mix CD is surely evidence of his continued relevance and success.

While Jarre’s techno roots are clearly on display the album explores other genres of dance. ‘Partners in Crime 1 and 2’ feature some interesting break beat elements, ‘In the Mood for You’ has a lounge like feel to it and ‘Chatterbox’ goes for the more modern electro vibe.

The single ‘Téo & Téa’ preceded the album, and was picked up by MTV Dance, but is not the only contender for its own release. The stomping, Eurodance sound of ‘Vintage’ has probably been the best received of the 13 tracks while the techno heavy ‘Téo & Téa’ 4:00am’ has also been turning heads.
