This is the third single from Born & Raised as Joy takes control on ‘Let Go’. A favourite from the Gilles Peterson session earlier in the year, there’s now a video of her performance loaded, see links below.

The CD comes with the official video if you’re into that type of thing. But wait! How good is the Teka One Drop remix? I say it’s brilliant and it harks back to her days in a reggae band and her performance on the ‘Torch Of Freedom’ single.

The queen of German soul meets German reggae producer and founder of Rootdown Records, Teka and keeps it up tempo and sunny, even if the lyrics are all about heartbreak and men behaving like men.

Joy is married to Max Herre and his friend Sholar turns in yet another corkin’ mix. Still keeping it slow, there’s a dirty bassline and synth spaceships going on. No idea who has done the A&S remix but it’s a bit of an odd electro hand clapper and possibly the best of the bunch.

This EP is no mere plundering of an excellent album, but a stylish package that’s as good as Joy’s vocal performance. It simply doesn’t need to have one of her big name US friends on the cover. Learn to let go and enjoy Denalane.
