Kay Suzuki - Opening EP |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Fans of Futuristica Music will know that Kay Suzuki provided a ‘Conscious Mix’ of ‘Illusions’ for our favourite new album Time by Emanative (whilst on the subject, Marc Rapson’s Dark Vs Light EP is coming soon so hang tight on that one), but before that there was the Bipolar remix of Yellowtail’s ‘Everything Is Alright’ (featuring legendary Monday Michiru) so the follow up to his The Bipolar is much anticipated; and he doesn’t let us fans of soul, jazz, funk, Afro-beat, Latin, deep house down. Even better than that, he’s joined by Gambia’s Jally Kebba Susso on kora and Babacarr Dieng (son of former Youssou N’dour drummer Magatte Dieng) so you get the idea that ‘Music’ sets his stall out as a producer who is influenced by all types of FLY music. ‘Move On’ is more in the Emanative spacebeats mode that’s funk and groovy on the space wave synths and features a new name to us, with some royally soulful vocals, by ay of CDr,l Duchy with some suitably earthy conscious lyrics on this one; check out the ‘making of’ video. Now either track is within our scope but there are the house remixes to cope with. The upbeat ‘Move On’ remix by New York based, Dominican Republic born Ezel is very Lady Alma sounding at her King Street/Yukihiro Fukutomi best. Definitely a good length for the dancefloor, but I must say, Atjazz does it once again after the Full Circle album and the ‘Find A Way’ remix (by Futuristica Music’s Deborah Jordon) as his take on ‘Music’ is perfect scoping of Afro-ethnic deepness that’ll rock any house; a different take compared to the tech-house of Adam Port & Santé but not that far away - it’s all bloody good music! On the download, mp3 packages features the tracks on the 12” with other remixes C.O.N.E. and Christo connecting West Africa, Dominican Republic, Netherlands, UK and Japan whilst the original tracks are from Suzuki’s debut album Consciousness that’s due out later this month so it’s an opening into consciousness?
