Kellerkind - Don't Go Home EP

Kellerkind is nothing to do with Florian Keller Party Keller but there is a link with Florian Meindl, time for Hectic to check out this new producer from Switzerland.

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Kellerkind has already had a digital only release on Flash Recordings but this is his first proper vinyl outing. You’ll recall the label is the joint project of Florian Meindl (the irrepressible one with recent hits of ‘Aorta’ and ‘8 Bit Romance’) and his mate, Oliver Stil Vor Talent Koletzki and they’re very keen on this 3-track 12 inch.

So impressed with their new signing, there’s no big name remixers here, just the talent of Kellerkind himself. Regular readers know I’m a sucker for anything slightly ping-pong and the title track is that with a pounding bass line that got “winner” written all over it. DJ warning, you may need to adjust your turntable when playing this one as it’s a really loud wobbler that sucks every hertz out of the groove; recommended!

‘Cache Cache’ is massive for me at the moment, minimal does mean cold; especially when there there’s big warm keys doing battle with a vocals skat (of sorts) so it’s minimal-tech-house all in one track. The thumping bass is also used on ‘Natural Juice’ where the slow build-up precedes some serious bouncey synths.

I’m reliable informed that Kellerkind translates as ‘child living in the basement’ and when this ‘child’ isn’t producing in the basement, he comes out to play (DJing) at Hive, Formbar, Rohstofflager, Kaufleuten, Hidden, OXA and loads more.

At this time of year you don’t want to go home and you won’t when ‘Don’t Go Home’ is playing. And as another year approaches the end, it’s hard to believe this release is already Flash011! But then, Florian fans know how busy he is so also keep your eyes and ears open for the recent remix of Colin Hobbs’ ‘Below Minus’ (White Noise Recordings) and the utterly brilliant ping-pong madness of his remix of Luke Dzierzek’s ‘The Beast’ coming out on Fling Recordings.
