Classically trained as a youngster, Hayakawa discovered his passion for electronic music after a move to Vienna in 2004 and has a growing reputation for melodic minimalist techno.

I particularly like the tracks on the b-side as he teams up with keyboardist Hans Staudinger on the bouncy ‘Schönbrunn’ as it’s a bit dubby and ‘Run Of Time’ is definitely one for the Nike run mixtape thing as not only does it up the tempo, there’s a field recording of songbird in there for the early morning jog (is it a blackbird?), some twinkly piano, gasp of breath, warm synth and go-go percussion - top tune.

At the end of the month Hayakawa is booked up for Urban Art Forms Festival 2009 along with electronic legends Kraftwerk (don’t forget the NEU! compilation BRAND NEW, Digitalism, Booka Shade, Sven Väth, Stephan Bodzin, Carl Craig, Chase And Status and many more. And if you can’t catch him there, he’s “Crazy” every Thursday night from 10-12pm on Vienna’s Superfly 98.3FM.
