KJ’s ‘Shakin That’ is a Justin Timberlakesque pop-rap-hop-boogie tune with some Latin flava undercurrents that are simply very hot right now. This is a follow-up to his previous single ‘Deep Within The Skin’; merely two songs from his collection of over 200!. Why hasn’t he broken into the big time then? Well we’re told than even though he could express himself in music in front on close friends and family, he had a fear of doing it in public. And the longer this went on, the worse his stage fright got until it proved even difficult for him to even leave his house.

Things took a turn for the better when record label Savage Trax tuned into his KJ’s myspace (which led to him performing on stage at Cardiff’s Mardi Gras last year) and linking up with the mental heath charity, No Panic.

Well whatever they’ve done together, they’ve pulled off a bit of a coup with the line up of remixers. The Wideboys were the masters of the garage sound with their own production and remixes back in the day. Clearly they’ve lost none of their dance floor uptempo savy here and one guy that likes to up the tempo is Jason Nevins (forever to be associated with the remix of Run DMC’s ‘It’s Like That’ from 1997). Both mixes are on the electro end of funk that is obviously the thing these days.

Best of the lot though is the clubby mix from GRN (aka DJ/producer Glen Nicholls) who has past credits with Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, Bomb The Bass and more recently, Robin S on ‘Show Me Love’.

Catchy, commercial and no doubt all over the radio, KJ is going to be shakin’ it.
