Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. After his appearance with Kero One on ‘When The Sunshine Comes’ a couple of months ago, Ben Westbeech soul credentials are still in demand soul-funk-jazz breaks Not an obvious one for Trevor Lovey’s house tip on the remix? Well the ‘Good To Be Here’ man gets onto a Chant No. 1 of Skeezer Pleezer jam. And with a dub version, he gets a whole 12” to himself. On the main release, more obvious candidates A-Skillz (as in ‘Happiness/Got The Rhythm’) gets old-skool on the sample re-creation on a electro-hip-hop scratch (big!) and when it comes to breaks, Finger Lickin’ Jem Stone (aka Jem from Soul of Man) knows what to do for a ‘minimal’ remix. But best of the lot is the Afro-funk of Lack of Afro isn’t far behind with his Latin percussive bomb version. This is the best I think we’ve heard from Jalapeno since Dr. Rubberfunk’s Sunset Breakup EP and well worth getting both 12s. Reviewed: Kraak & Smaak feat. Ben Westbeech - Squeeze Me Cat.
