Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Her direct, emotionally raw style is like a confrontation in places and can be almost uncomfortable to listen to. The lyrics are, again, confrontational and are reminiscent of a familiar and painful break-up conversation where accusations are levelled subtly but with deadly accuracy so as to cause the maximum emotional impact. ‘Too Much Space’, the second track on In the Maybe World is typical of the album, full of sadness and regret, where the vocals are joined by an accompanying violin and various slightly discordant elements, which add to the listener’s slight discomfort at being audience to someone’s innermost thoughts. This is love and loss with a fair dose of pain thrown into the mix, and the production adds to this effect as much as, if not more than the confessional and sometimes delusional lyrics. It’s still not one I’d rush out to buy, but it has a painful charm that demands (again like the jilted lover) to be listened to, heard out and understood. In the Maybe World is released July 2006 on Young God Records. |
