Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. This is folk as it’s played in the traditional Irish session for the mostpart, and although she’s a city girl, Knapp came up through London Irish sessions at Tir Na Nog and Kilkenny Tavern. Knapp’s voice is of the kind that will draw big interest and probably a fair few superlatives. She uses her voice as an instrument so it becomes the sounds she makes rather than the words she sings that attract the attention. It seems strange the album kicks off with a remix (a decent one though) but Wild and Undaunted gets wild on ‘There You Are’ with some intense violins on this awesome track blazing in folk glory. ‘London Town’ is an equally wild chase through the Big Smoke, but the winner in the odd one out round is without doubt ‘Lavendar’, which sounds like an early advert for fabric softener and just feels a bit out of place here, especially among the edgier numbers. This fine debut is accompanied by a long string of live dates (see below) and doubtless when you hear the album you’ll want to get down to at least one of them. Wild and Undaunted is released on 27 March on Ear to the Ground. Tour dates: Links: |
