Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Love Unlimited are a recurring source of inspiration (see R.E.-Edit’s Volume 1) and this time ‘Move Me No Mountain’ takes us higher into the stratosphere. The original appeared on the 1974 album, In Heat. It’s very much the mellow Barry White soulful funky big string orchestration with a nice touch of jazzy vibe and flute. I’ve got a huge soft spot for Angie Stone’s Mahogany Soul. Not only is it a great album, but the last time I went to the North Sea Jazz Festival her face was all over town on promo posters. ‘Wish I Didn’t Miss You’ was an original based on a sample of The O’Jays ‘Backstabbers’ but now Ms Stone has a different backing altogether. Definitely one for the Jazz Room. In fact, Russ Dewbury was so impressed, he played both sides recently on his New Jazz Spectrum Radio Show. Cristiano Spillati has also got his hands on this and featured the Angie Stone track on his SEARCHING show in Barcelona. So with this 12” getting plays all over Europe, it with be coming to a dance floor near you soon. Tricky one for the Hectic mix nomination as I’m emotionally tied to Angie Stone but I’d say the a-side is equally big. Whoever Re-edit is, this series is exponentially getting better and better.
