Lupen Crook - 'A Silver Boot For Sam' |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. In fact, that should be a batch of singles as there are three different versions of ‘A Silver Boot For Sam’. The a-side has been described as “Real psychdelia… then I’ll take you down the pub for a good ol’ knees up… then back to mine to watch Hucklebery Finn.” Well we don’t have that special kind of coffee at Fly’s office. The theme of dark foreboding on ‘Washing Blood From My Hands’ in a quasi-flamenco-folk song tempo is a regular part of Crook’s wailings. ‘Shake Baby Shake’ is like the Cure meets Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer vs. Love Cats with the baby lovin’ the live band before going back to her cot. Directed by Ashley Dean of iLIKETRAiNS, it, like most things Lupen, is strangely Crook but always compelling. It’s quite mesmerising and I think his song writing and arranging are just getting better.
