Manuel Tur feat. Alexander East - Will Be Mine

Not really known for big vocal deep house, Freerange Records have found a big one hear with ‘Will Be Mine’ that truly deserves that 12” extension as it’s BIG!

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Freerange had ‘the other room’ set at Peterson’s gig last week, with GP, Peter Kruder and a live set from Stereotyp in competition; you could well have missed this one.

If you believe all you read, Manuel Tur comes from Essen that’s “synonymous with urban boredom”. Well that’s a good thing as he’s clearly spent many hours indoors developing a passion for DJing that progressed to hours in the recording studio writing and producing tracks for his sets. Freerange’s Jimpster (he of The Bays) has already got Mr. East on his ‘Love You Better’ track off the Amour project so it was a natural to get East on vocals and between them, they’ve got a hit on their hands with ‘Will Be Mine’ in the proportions a of classic Robert Owens.

So you might gather I’m rather keen on ‘Will Be Mine’ and it’s the type of track, if you or I had produced it, we’d be thinking job done, feet up, rest on laurels. So it comes as a great bonus that the other track, ‘Stay’ is as equally as good.

Slower, funkier, dubbier with more soul, it satisfies your warm-up box with sexy vocals from Larissa Kapp (don’t miss out on the instrumental though).

Getting back to ‘Will Be Mine’, it’s good to see that veteran Ian Pooley’s remix standards as high as every (and not just because he release a track called, ‘The Fly Shuffle’ and featured on Night Stories) as his version is on it in a bangin’ 4×4 before getting scary with the synth stabs and there’s a couple of versions by Arto Mwanbe that ups the funk; big noise on the hypnotic dub version.

Manuel Tur’s background includes releases on Drumpoet Community’s with Dplay and Ovum with Langenberg and his remixes are hot deep house favourites.

‘Will Be Mine’ is the first single from his debut LP entitled 0201 which is due out in the summer and it’s one we’re going to be looking out for.

The club is running a spanking new programme of events on Friday nights under the banner We Fear Silence. It’s a fantastic venue, and Freerange will be hosting Room 2 - a dark intimate little space perfect for some delicious deep house. Jimpster will be playing a 4 hour set, joined by Pash Ostovar. Meanwhile some chap called Gilles Peterson will be spinning in the main room - apparantly he’s rather good. Snap up advance tickets here.
