Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. From the Roots is some serious p-funk (be it Parliament or Prince) that Mr. Sedgley takes ‘To The Shoots’ of the dance floor for some serious summer boogie. The album sets off with the true classic ‘Happy’ and it’s just one of those that you never get tired off. If you can’t feel this one, there’s no hope. But you’ve got to resist putting it on repeat. The album is like a Pete Tong friendly Peng Peng, particularly on such funky disco tracks as ‘Celebrity’ and ‘I’ve Been Waiting’. Mr. Sedgely is a bit of an all-round clever clogs as he contributes drums, clavinet, Rhodes, vocals and has arranged and produced the album as well as writing most of it! The first half of the album is excellent whilst the second half is not so immediate (which is often a good sign). Definitely earmarked as the sound of the summer and he’s all set to head up Nodisko’s Summer Love-In next month with a “Full Live Show!” Sounds like a good one.
