Middlewood Sessions - 'Fall Back' |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. The Middlewood Sessions are Sheffield-based duo Mark Slater and Alex Beauchamp, who are joined by real musicians on ‘Fall Back’ (which originally reached number 17 in Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Winners 2006) When Spiritual South’s Mark Richardson gets his drum and Latin re-rubs right, which is more often that not (as with the classic ‘Jazz Room’, ‘Happy’ and ‘Roda Piao’) you know you’re in for a treat. And he’s done it again here. Brilliant stuff as the vocals slip to the background and we get a bangin’ instrumental Afro-Latin jazz dancer. While the original version is ideal for fans of modern jazziness like Cinematic Orchestra, Jazzanova, Two Banks Of Four and all things Brownswood, I can’t wait to hear the Spiritual South mix at a Gilles Peterson gig. Shakin me stuff already on the dance floor. Vocals: Nesreen Shah Reviewed: Middlewood Sessions — Fall Back (Brownswood Recordings) Cat. No. Release date: June 2007 Links: |
