Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Back in the days of Talkin’ Loud label, Gilles Peterson and the other honcho’s had the good commercial sense to slip into MJ Cole’s contact an exclusivity clause so it wasn’t until 2004 that Matthew Coleman (aka MJ Cole) returned to his own label that he started in 1998. And with the re-launch come a brand new single with enough remixes to satisfy any DJ mood. The original version of ‘Gotta Have It’ comes with the killer vocals of R&B sensation Digga plus some lush string plucking and it’s a pre-destined summer hit as 2-step now merges into this years’ hot genre, UK Funkee House. And back in the day, MJ Cole was busier remixing than producing his own tunes at one stage and 2-steppin’ into his MJ’s shoes is Ill Blu who has already been tipped as the next big thing. And the last time we saw Micky Slim on FLY was the Future Funk CD of 10 Years Of Finger Lickin’ and he’s right on it here with a Crookers type mix. Penfold Remix is the monster as it goes on-and-on and then there’s Matt’s own broken-up stuttering dub track. And when you’ve gotta have it, you just can’t get enough and new names to us, Contol S and Epydemix finishings the set off Good to have MJ Cole back in form and lets hope he returns to he prolific ways.
