There’s no time to linger on the lack of reggae in Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood’s version of Pete Tosh’s classic, ‘Legalize It’ as this Serbian/German/Portuguese/French link up gets up on a Shabba tip to ‘Relegalize’.

This is a great dancehall-break-hip hop-dancehall track that goes well with Seed’s last single ‘Thing’ with Saïan Supa Crew from Paris (see the MOD X guide to Paris).

However, it’s that b-boy MOD X who gets the prize with the scratchin’, rappin’n’skankin’ remix. You know we love those big horns and all that’s missing is a proper dub.

MOD X is still working on his album but also watch out for a remix of ‘Could Be’ by our favourite co-op in Canada, Solidaze and something called ‘Spit’ by Tarmen of No Nine Recordings.

‘Relegalize’ is another download only release but hopefully, with our support, it will lead to a proper vinyl 12”. What is your chances of a dub in a Babylon?

The original mix has a great summer feel to it — great vocals and just the right amount of brass to bring out the sunshine vibe. This will sound excellent on a fat sound system! The Mod X remix toughens up the beats nice and uses some great sounds to beef up the vibe. The vocals work really well in the remix and I can see this been a great release for Ice & Spice.
