Natalie Williams - 'This Girl' (Remixes) |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Like many of the other Heritage Orchestra members that have their own solo projects, like Chris Bowden, Natalie is forging ahead with her own solo career. It seems an age since her interview on Gilles Peterson’s show last year, but the timing seems right for the former student of the Guildhall School f Music & Drama. Following on from the ‘Butterfly’ release, ‘This Girl’ is another declaration of soul. With the help of Ty’s best mate Drew Horley producing, this is very much old skool eighties soul Motown (like a sweeter Amy Winehouse) If you’re a fan of Terri Walker, you won’t be disappointed with the original version, or any of the remixes for that matter. Even former Talkin Loud’s MJ Cole gets into the downtempo vibe. I’ve not heard of DC Joseph or Lazybatusu (aka Corrado Bailone & Simone Giuliani) before but I particularly like the nu-jazz broken dub of the Lazybatusu’s Treat. Still to track down the album Secret Garden but I feel it’s all coming together for this girl. Hectic Mix nomination: Lazybatusu’s Treat Reviewed: Natalie Williams — This Girl (East Side Records) Cat. No.:ESR 20T Release date: 27 Nov 2006 Links: |
