Neil Cowley Trio were the second jazz act to perform on Sunday 20th July at Koko, as part of iTunes Live.

They consist of Neil Cowley on piano, Evan Jenkins on drums and Richard Sadler on double bass. Their sound is energetic, with jazz, rock and classical infusions.

They performed 9 tracks, which included:
‘Clumsy couple’ taken from their album ‘Loud, Louder, Stop!’
‘Countdown’
‘The Green intuition’
‘His Nibs’, as performed on Jools Holland.

Evan, whose birthday was on 17th July, was shocked when the crowd sang ‘happy birthday’ and a baking tray with mini cakes and candles was brought onto the stage.

After blowing out the candles, Evan gave an excellent solo on drums following the surprise of his cakes.

Neil Cowley trio will be performing at Brecon Jazz Festival on 8th August, lucky Brecon I say!

Btw, Brecon is in Wales (thought I’d add as I didn’t know where it was)!
