Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. It was a year ago that these french popsters released the O-Hot Brain single of the album, Love Again. ‘Annie Mall’ is in that same upbeat electro pop french indie world that you either get or back away from quite rapidly. Taken from their second album, The Story Of Bob Star you can tell they’ve lost none of their love of Ray Davies as it’s a “pop opera” of a journey with the fictional character Bob Star. ‘Seated By The Riverside’ is a rather gorgeous Kinks-esque trip up the tower Eiffel and ideal for a Sunday afternoon (careful as it’s a bit of a grower). But the one to get your hands on is the Radioclit (DJ Tron and Johan) of ‘Annie Mall’ that turn down their nu-rave and disco tendencies for a Nyabinghi drumming come Toys-R-Us nursery keyboard (a la le Cure ‘Close To Me’). These lot are odd; still it’s an away win for me!! (1-2). Reviewed: One-Two - Annie Mall (Four Music) Cat. No. GO10001315987U Release date: 12th May 2008 Links: |
