Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. These guys have a big summer ahead of them (including headlining at Big Chill Festival no less) but that won’t phase the brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll as they’ve had the t-shirt for 20 years at least. After a mere 5 years in ‘retirement’, they’re back and have compiled a 2 CD set of generation-defining dance music and the new 12” remixes are released on June 8th via Rhino Records. Fans that want to get the 12” remixes by the young ‘uns, well Hervé is quite young compared to James Zabiela and Tom Middleton. And oddly enough, its DJ superstar Zabiela that takes top prize with the heavy percussion synth warp of his Scorched Earth remix of ‘Impact’ that’ll definitely keep you on your feet whether you’re in a club or a field full on mud (Orbital’s shows at Glastonbury are legendary of course). Hervé (last seen on FLY ‘Shakin’ It’ with the Skanky Skanky Toddla T) add some ‘Tree And Leaf’ bass-bin bounce to the indo-ambience of ‘Lush’ and then, rather suitable as half of the team behind the inspiration for The Big Chill festival, Tom Middleton turns in a half dreamy, half white isle, half bangin’ (Ed. a game of three halves then?) remix of ‘Halcyon’. You know what these guys are about and it’s good to have them back. Reviewed: Orbital - Orbital 20 (Rhino) Cat. No: Released: 8th June 2009 CD 2 Forthcoming dates: Links: |
