Even if Paul White’s name doesn’t have the ring of say Madlib, DJ Shadow or Peanut Butter, people in the know have tipped him as the one to watch. ‘For You And For Me’ is hot on the heels of his remix of Bullion’s ‘I Know All The Bitches’ and Detroit’s Frank’N’Dank (who featured on the Jaylib Champion Sound album).

DJ champions Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio1) and Benji B (BBC 1Xtra) are fans of White’s previous single on One-Handed Music, the 7” ‘The Dragon Fly’ b/w ‘A Silent Cry’. The new single keeps up the high standard as ‘For You And For Me’ goes into a parade ground marching hip-hop that’s a bit Koushik Out My Window in part, part call to prayer, part MGM gong man, part Dragon Boat race and North America Indian war dance!

On the b-side, be just as impressed with ‘We Want It All’. White manages to get ‘it all’ into 3 minutes with a homage DJ Shadow, roots reggae, old skool funk, rave, hip-hop and even Jon Anderson! Can this be possible without sounding an absolute mess? Only for Paul White as this guy is pure genius. Please, more, more and more.

When Mr. White isn’t producing library music for the likes of the BBC and Channel 4 (Jonny Trunk fans note), Paul is working on other tracks from his South London studio ready for the debut album release.

Karen ‘I Love It’ P is yet another fan (she of Broadcasting…), so expect to be picking up more impressive Paul White sound waves very soon.
