Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Going back to the beginnings of techno, (The Kings Of Techno) the themes of space and trains have been covered many times over the years. So what makes Igor Tchkotoua (aka Pig) and Dan Duncan’s latest 12” stand out? As a general rule, if it sounds like a train, I’ll like it. This is particularly true of ‘Monjon’ but both tracks are minor soundscapes with bass assaults from outer space going on. At times, this is like some Warrior Dubz on speed at carnival (are those steel drums?). ‘Digital Life’ builds on the theme in a minimal bass driven way - but as if played through the radar scanner of a submarine. Big booming beats with hypnotic clicks of a stuck record all add to an experimental techno feel; before ending with a dripping tap in the bath! One for the Unsafe team?
