Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. It’s acousticy, slightly eastern European and the unplaceable etherial Slovenian vocals and floaty guitars add to the sense of this being a particular sort of mood music. After a while I forgot I was listening to music and slipped into a dreamy state. Which isn’t to say there’s anything wrong with it, it just has a rather soporific effect. Pinknruby are Slovenian Mihaela Repina and Paul Bradbury. They dress as they play, in a 60s/70s floaty far-out way which matches perfectly their musing, drifting and melancholic melodies, flowing through a vague stylistic panacea. I dozed through most of Garden and only awoke to the flamenco violins and guitar on ‘Shadume’, which was the first track to make me sit up and start to take real notice and realise this wasn’t all just a pleasant dream. This track made me realise there is more to this duo than placeless floaty music, and perhaps it’s worth another listen, and this time I’ll keep my eyes open. Or at least try to… Garden is released on Prikosnovenie records. |
