‘Pretend Paradise’ is the one getting all the airplay of the two A sides. It features Liane Carroll (Double BBC Jazz Awards 2005 nominated, London Elektricity & Hospital Records) on vocals but don’t think there’s any d’n’b going on here. It’s jazz on a broken tip with lush strings and super horns. Ms. Carroll slips in a jazz skat half way through and off we go on a samba ‘rhythm of life’ groove. This is a big tune and destined to get them lots of attention.

In comparison to ‘Pretend Paradise’, ‘Thin Air’ is very downtempo. It features the vocals of Laura Vane — who is best known for her part in The Rivera Project. However, she has had a busy year already featuring on The Streets’ The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living and Diesler’s Keepie Uppies albums. ‘Thin Air’ is one of those laid-back tracks with a sax solos that surprisingly fits in with a bit of mixed down scratchin’. Those lush strings are back again and are possibly their trademark? If you’re into Futuristica Music, you’ll love this as it’s part of the family of soul and jazz.

These are two really solid tunes, worthy of a 12” release and they won’t be Part Time for long as they’re currently recording tracks with N’Dambi (Erykah Badu and Jill Scott collaborator) and Monday Michiru. Although PTH Projects didn’t make the first Wah Wah 45s compilaton CD, Underground Hits And Exclusive Bits!, you can see they’ll definitely be on Vol.2.
