Rachael Bell - Pizza Express (Live review) |

|
You might be wondering, ‘why am I reading about this review of Rachael Bell in November, when she was at Pizza Express in July 2008’? For two reasons: 1. I had the pleasure of watching Rachael Bell over at Pizza Express, 10 Dean St, London on 17 July 2008. Rachael Bell is a singer, acoustic guitarist and pianist. Based in Hertfordshire, her style is blues, soul and then some! Rachael has a great voice and with the acoustic set she started with it, complemented her tones. Having met Rachael before and heard her material from her collaboration with Ross Stone, Reuben’s Thread, I wondered what her set at Pizza Express would entail. She opened with a new track called Touch the line - what a melodic track. Not the end of the world. Get the message. Needing to be me - a track written when she was in LA. To die for - a song she wrote about her son. Roll alone. Why don’t you know. She had a nervous moment where she forgot the lyrics to her song, when she started to sing the opening lyrics to her song were ‘It’s my memory that serves me right’, which made everyone laugh with her. She was then joined by Joe on Double bass and Mike on drums who complemented each other nicely with Rachael on vocals. After the interlude Rachael sang ‘I’m yours’ with the backdrop of bass and drums. Missing. A cure - with Joe, Mike and Rachael displaying her skills on piano. I think you know - with Rachael on guitar followed by two further tracks. The themes of her songs ranged from love, knowing when to end a relationship, Rachael has an openness that endeared the audience. Check out her new album -called Raw Sunday and the artist that is Rachael Bell on: www.myspace.com/rachaelrachaelmusic 2. The second reason for the review is that Rachael will be performing in December at Supa Fine: So …keep an eye on this young lady - Rachael Bell! |
