If you’re into DJ Vadim’s U Can’t Lurn Imaginashun you’ll love this. And not just because former member of OneSelf, BluRum13 finds himself on a reggae train (called ‘End Game’) that’s just one of many stand out tracks in the fourteen that makes up More. Funky-old skool hip hop with ‘Definistion’ featureing Mystro (last seen here on Braintax’s Panorama), Nau and Abstract Rude and we last saw Mr. Rude on Breakin’ Bread’s Dirtybeatbreakinfunkandhiphop and he shows up here on three more tracks. In fact, Breakin’ Bread is almost a template for this album (perhaps that comes from having 50% of The Nextman, Brad Baloo on co-production with “lead dogs” DJ Katch and Dave Atkins) and one of the best tracks is the ‘Fine Mess’ with Yungun (he who did the business on Aaron Jerome’s ‘Late Night Mission’) that’s got a bit/lot of Nextmen nouce to it. That’s certainly true of the debut single ‘Peace And Love’ with Demolition Man on the conscious dancehall vibe whilst in contrast ‘2 Sides’ is like a story line from the teen element of Corrie and then Yungun shines again on the ‘Nasty’ but nice skank . Whilst there’s a couple of tracks that dip a little below the high points, this is a solid album and the best of its type I’ve come across in ages. And whilst being ‘Nasty’, ‘Sex Cells’ is suitably dirty synth P. Funked (its a big ‘un, you can smell it in the air); David Banner-esque. Other tracks that’ll impress is the opener ‘Coming With The Sound’ with the return of Haiku D’Etat (Abstract Rude, Aceyalone and Mikah 9) and the jazzy-funked out closing track on the full 10 minute mark, ‘Smoking In The Darkness’. And as an added bonus to the album, the other thing to look forward to is the UK Summer tour so worth keeping an eye on their myspace (see links below) plus there’s loads of vids to check this one out. And I mention Australian? We’ll let that pass as we’ve not lost the Ashes yet and I prefer to think of this a more of an International project. Back home, we’re told that the name Resin Dogs “is synonymous with massive energy, huge crowds and an infectious roll call of rhythms” - and More is all of that.
