Richard E feat. Jennifer Moore - 'The Call' |

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. I loved both sides of his first solo release ‘Sometimes I / Hear Her Call’ and all the tracks on this 12” are well up to that standard, if not even better. I’ve no idea who Jennifer Moore is but we can certainly add her to all the jazz-soul female vocalists that we admire so much at Fly like Deboarah Jordan and Julia Biel. Not sure I understand what the lyrics are all about, but I feel the calling more every time I hear it. I’m a sucker for the strings, the keys, the horns, the congas, the flute and, of course, Ms. Moore’s voice. Fans of Break Reform will love this too. And whilst we love the ladies, we’ve also got a growing list of French friends of Fly (like MOD X and Heavenly Sweetness) to which we can add the remixers of ‘The Call’, Chamade Beat. Again, I know nothing of who these folks are but I know they can take something wonderful like the original version and add some jazzy keys on a broken beat with bass-wobble for something that’s not better/worse, but just more dancefloor friendly. This is the version for fans of Shilouette Brown. You’ve got your money’s worth with these two tracks but Mr. E’s mission is to leave you in awe and shock you with a couple of instrumentals, ‘Hear Me Now’ and ‘Dream Bossa’. Now everyone should hear ‘Hear Me Now’ as he has gone off on a Fela-inspired, percussive breaks, hip hoppin’ jolly. And whilst he’s on one continent, why not go to another for ‘Dream Bossa’. ‘Hear Me Now’ is currently loaded on Richard’s myspace site and ‘Dream Bossa’ is on the Further Out myspace site (see links below). What with Alessandro Oliviero/Heidi Vogel outing on ‘Higher Skies’, Further Out and its brother/sister label Futurisica Music are getting it so spot on at the moment, I’m getting lost for words. Just essential the lot of them. Hectic Mix nomination: Even if you twisted my arm, I’d have to say all of them. |
