Riz MC - Radar Remixes

Those Crosstown Rebels go even further out of thier comfort zone to get two gloriously different remixes on Riz MC’s big tune, ‘Radar’.

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

The end of last year saw the original release of ‘Radar’ (for our review and for more information on Riz MC himself, see HERE) so we were always going to keep a look out for the remix package and they’ve chosen one of our old favourites and a new young talent to do the honours.

Over the years, Ashley Beedle has been one of our favourite remixers whether it be Amadou & Mariam’s ‘Coulibaly’ or Edwyn Collins’ You’ll Never Know (My Love). Not sure about the ILL Communication in the title, I’d have thought We Love You Riz MC would be more appropriate as we get a stretched out synthy downtempo ambient mix for a full 10 minutes.

On the flip, we have Sukh Knight who has already had underground hits in the dubstep world on True Tigers Recordings and a track on the Rinse 06 compilation of last year. Due to the strength of the original, there’s not much to go wrong in the dubstep wobble but the rap gives it that bit of stand-out factor. I think we’ll be hearing much more from Sukh Knight’s East London fortress this year.

A good start for 2009 with the leftfield hip-hop remix front as last week there was the Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip with Pos Plug Won remixes of ‘Thou Shalt Always Kill ’ and whilst on the subject, Dan Le Sac Meets Scroobius Pip Vs. Riz MC with the depressing ‘ILL Credit’ currently loaded on his myspace (one for these credit crunch recessionary times).

Back on the always busy Ashley Beedle front, following Inspiration Information with Amp Fiddler with Sly & Robbie on Strut, the next version sees Ashley Beedle teaming up with legendary reggae vocalist Horace Andy. That’s coming out in March so for Strut fans, suggest you get the Darkest Light / The Best Of The Lafayette Afro-Rock compilation that’s out on the same day as the ‘Radar Remixes’; hectic times.
