Rockers Hi-Fi - 'Push Push' (Remixes 2006) |

Back then, friend of Fly, Glyn ‘Bigga’ Bush and DJ Dick Whittingham were at the controls and they worked thier ‘Push Push’ magic with some Johnny Osbourne samples. ‘Push Push’ has been remixed before and most recently, the re-work by Bigga on the new album, Biggabush In Dub on his new label, Lion Head Recordings. As you can’t have too much of a good thing, a week later and we get three more versions. M.A.N.D.Y. say ‘Push Push’ is their all-time top track so they were more than keen to get their hands on it for the a-side remix. The M.A.N.D.Y. co-op clearly has impeccable taste and they are one of the busiest and popular house DJ/remix teams around. So what happens when Brummie gold is transported to the Get Physical Germans in Berlin? Well it’s enough to lose total body control (actually, that’s perhaps not the most pleasant of images) with some drums that Bigga himself would admire. I’m pleased they’ve kept the vocal. Very Pusher percussive with electro echoisms that makes it a really big tune. On the b-side there’s a Koletzki and Meindl remix that is somewhere between the original and the M.A.N.D.Y mix. Probably won’t make the next Sound Sensation compilation as it’s one for the heavy electro set; but it’s my current favourite of the three here. It’s not only the Great Stuff label that thinks it’s a heavyweight track of sumo strength. Expect to hear Tiefschwarz, Steve Bug, Jean Claude Ades and Guy Gerber all playing this on their worldwide travels. That said, you can’t argue with Michael Mayer, “You can’t beat the original.. Eternal classic in my box!” Even so, a couple of great remixes with an Martin Eyerer “remastering” of the original to boot makes this a must have 12”. Dankeschön Great Stuff.
