‘Music Is Our Universe’ is a typical Solar Apple Quarkette (SAQ) mix of funk and “spaced-out jazz” to get the dance floor groovin’. Featuring some might fine organ work from SAQ’s own Richard E (he of the essential ‘Here Me Know’) and some heavy flute from the solar winds by Ok-Ma’s Jake Telford, this is my favourite tune of the moment.

Not only that, there’s two previously unreleased tracks available. ‘Space Butter’ takes the pace down a little and incorporates a sample of what’s new in the world of out of body chemical experiences; one for recovering ravers.

SAQ is a partnership of Richard E and Mr Christy and the album, Solar Apple Quarktette is due soon. Fans of Radio Saturn can hardly wait but Wormfunk Mix of an old favourite, ‘Solar Bossa’ is exclusive to this EP release. Already big with those leftfield types Savannah Soul and the Natural Yogurt Band, this mix keeps the Latin flava of the original but adds some sputnik funkiness.

I love everything about SAQ and hopefully ‘Music Is Our Universe’ this will mark the start of wider recognition of this exceptional project.
