Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Nervous Records have unleashed a couple of albums on us lately, the essential Frankie Knuckle’s Movation Too and the compilation from Danny Kravit 718 Sessions with forthcoming releases scheduled for Mind Control, Chris Lake, Anané (produced by Louie Vega), David Tort, King Britt, Chus & Ceballos and Behrouz it’s all looking like the label is back at the top of their game. May’s ‘Come Back’ isn’t official until early in the New Year but as there’s the Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper remixes that just means that it’ll be rockin’ the dance floors this festive season; especially as there’s a big element of AK’s ‘Say That You Love Me’ swing about it. As ever, there’s a plethora of remixes with Sunfreakz’ mix being pure Ibiza house but it’s the extended and dub mixes of the ‘Directors Cut’ (that’s Knuckles and Kupper) are are the one’s you’ll be interested in and it all fits in nicely with May’s Billboard summer hit ‘Anther Day’. Just in case you’re not aware, Nervous started in 1991 and was the first label to sign and release tracks by dance heroes like Armand Van Helden, Paul Van Dyk and Nuyorican Soul and their first three releases were produced by Roger Sanchez, Kenny Dope, and Todd Terry respectively! Now, that’s hard to match on many counts but this Friday, the “Sound of New York nitelife” comes to Shoreditch with Tom Stephan (aka Superchumbo) whose album ‘Nervous Nightlife’ that’s another release due for next year. Joining Tom with be vocalist Rowetta (ex Happy Mondays, X Factor, Rehab) who’ll be performing ‘Lights Out’ that’s penned as the the first single from Tom’s album. And by coincidence, I hear that Rowetta’s replacement in the Happy Mondays, a certain Julie Gordon was rather good on the recently completed U.S. tour; not only that, but we’ll be looking forward to hearing much more of Ms. Gordon in the new year. Meanwhile, back to Ms. May, ‘Come Back’ to the Director’s Cut Essential Dub. Reviewed: Sofia May - Come Back (Nervous Records) Cat. No. Release date: 18th January 2010 Links: |
