Stanley Brinks - End Of The World |

What with all the global warming warnings going on at the moment, ‘End of The World’ put it all into context as the next line is, “I’m in love with a beautiful girl’. After Carlos NiƱo’s tribute to all things Neil Young recently on his Spaceways Radio Show on KPFK 90.7 FM, the country folk and guitar riff of this track is as close to some modern day “cosmic love from California” this side of 2007 - ever lone 1967. Singer/songwriter/New York native Brinks, follows up his debut solo album ‘Dank U’ last year with The Wave Pictures (signed to Moshi Moshi along with the totally different The Kindness). For someone who was slat]]]]]]]]]]]]]]ing guitar bands (not that this album is a guitar band), the lead guitar of Dave Tattersall shines on this album (more than Brinks’ distinctive voice) and the rhythm section of Jonny Helm and Franic Rozycki give it a very ‘early’ Neil Young electric folk vibe; particularly ‘39 Winks’. Apparenlty, when Brinks is not in his Berlin retreat composing and recording, he gigs all over the world (in trademark Hawaiian shirts - erm!) but as his fan base grows especially with whimsical tracks like ‘Why The Martians Are Gone’ that has got a good old dollop of Stiff label humour about it.
