Those regular readers with long memories will recall that ‘Asunder’ was a track originally on Stee’s Formula EP back in 2006 (see review HERE).

This version (and the rest of the forthcoming album) was recorded in a mere two weeks with his Scribble label buddy Ishfaq (see what Stee and Ishfaq were up to at Scribble). So we know this was no overnight success and we now find out that before Scribble he was playing bass with a live dance music outfit called Nu Root Rhythm, recorded The Big Smoke EP and toured Germany.

Stee studied media until 2001 and then moved to Amsterdam where he worked with various producers and musicians including Ishfaq (previously released on inphusion records). You may recall that Scribble released an 12” by Ishfaq called The Change EP that featured Kissy Asplund (who featured on one of the albums of this year, Replife’s The Unclosed Mind).

So we know the guy has musical taste, likes soul, jazz, hip-hop, reggae and he’s a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboard) and DJ (check the mix on Formula EP).

Stee’s fans include Wah Wah 45s Dom Servini (currently on a massive high with the Part-Time Hereos ablum Meanwhile…) and Europe’s finest like Rainer Truby, Michael Ruetten and the Jazzanova team; you’ll recall Stee’s ‘Destruction Of Ourselves’ finishes off Sonar Kollektiv’s Secret Love 5 complilation.

The ‘Asunder’ single is a is just a taster of what’s to come from Stee as is the exclusive instrumental version of ‘Obviously’. Stee is a star and may you and I never be torn asunder from his music for too long.
