The Littlemen - Walking Sideways

Why walking sideways? Perhaps it’s a little man syndrome? Can they get over these insecurities with the new album? Hectic holds their hands in support

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Back in 2003, The Littlemen had their track ‘Line Dancin’ included on the Southport Weekender compilation (3 CD set with Gilles Peterson, Miguel Migs, Joey Negro) but by then, the duo of Nottingham’s Steve and Gav had already been going on the local scene for ten years.

They formed The Littlemen in ‘99 and have had tracks released on loads of different labels. This album is released on their own Mobile Trax and it’s their first full CD release with 11 soulful funk house tunes touched with a little bit of reggae.

Perhaps their multiple influences come from their worldwide travels as part to the Smokescreen Soundsystem, having recently been to the US and Australia as well as Asia and most parts of Europe. There’s a party to celebrations the 15th Birthday on 3rd November (somewhere near Nottingham) and the single ‘Flightmare’ is out now with ‘Forget Ya Problems’ out at the end of next month along with the CD.

‘Flightmare’ is the type of sugary reggae-pop in the 10cc stylee that is so popular. I’ve nothing against popular, but this one gives me ‘mares. But no worries ‘cos, perhaps with some tongue firmly in check, ‘Forget Ya Problems’ is the antidote to that and the semi-broken electro of ‘Don’t Stop’.

Happy, uplifting, sunshine House might be a bit hard to accept as we, in the UK anyway, turn the clocks back to make the daylight hours as short as possible (are we mad?) but it doesn’t have to be so tough with The Littlemen on your system.

Hectic Mix nominations: ‘Not So Tough’, ‘Forget Ya Problems’, ‘Bring Me Down’, ‘Don’t Stop’
