The Long Lost - Amiss

It would be very amiss if you missed ‘Amiss’ by the pair of lovers called The Long Lost.

LongLostAmiss.jpg

Ever since the first single from Alfred Roberts Daedelus Darling and Laura Darlington (aka The Long Lost) kissed us with the wonderful ‘Woebegone’, we’re been on the edge of our decks awaiting the album; but first ‘Amiss’ harks back to Denies The Days Demise with a Brasil-o-Calif tender touch of a love tune timely mixing of Valentines Day and Carnival.

Mesmerising vocals from Laura with Alfred on guitar as they breathlessly race the tune along “always kissing”; but you don’t want to miss anything of it and its just gone on repeat “easy as pie in the sky”.

On the remix, there’s the return of twisted folksters Tunng who have a hurdy gurdy May pole of a dance as they get back to their Comments Of The Inner Chorus prime. And talking of returns, Finks’ remix of Nina Simone’s ‘Chilly Winds’ (on C was the first we’d heard of him for ages (well, since ‘Pretty Little Thing’ on Supperclub: Jealousy compilation anyway). Fink’s remix of ‘Amiss’ hits the spaceways of folk dub trip-out brilliantly - this is what additional production is all about as he puts the lovers at ease.

You may recall that Computer Jay featured on the ArtDontSleep Presents… From L.A. With Love compilation of a couple of years ago (featuring all our favourites from the “best coast” like Carlos Niño, Adventure Time, Coleman, Madlib, Nobody, Flying Lotus, Georgia Anne Muldrow and many more). For ‘Amiss’ he goes back to the Victorian workshop that happens to have a bull whip affixed to the Theremin driven Van Der Graf Generator which some wit has described as “rather like a female HAL saving her male counterpart from himself”?

These love doves concentrate on electro-acoustic rom-lullabies and ‘Amiss’ is a magical insight into the album; for even more, this months’ The Word has ‘Overmuch’ on their Now Hear This! cover disc.

The Long Lost love. We ♥ The Long Lost, x.
