Toddla T feat. Wayne Marshall - Sky Surfing

Toddla T signing to Ninja Tune shows that even as they celebrate their 20th anniversary this year, they are still a force to be reckoned with and party with a bit of Sky Surfing.

If you’re still recovering from your Big Chill experience like me, here’s another guy that rocked the Starburst stage on Saturday with his bass heavy sounds and loyal sidekick, MC Serocee.

After the release of his to his debut album Skanky Skanky in 2009, the Fabriclive 47 and assisting with Roots Manuva’s Slime & Reason and Jammer’s Jahmanji earlier this year, Toddla T is back with his very first single on Ninja Tune and his own own singles label Girls Music.

Having signed to Ninja earlier in the summer, for his debut release, lets just check that one again, Toddla T and Wayne Marshall on the same tune! Yep, Sheffield’s favourite DJ goes to JA and gets high in the sky surfin with Dancehall legend Wayne Marshall. Mediatating their way to a higher state of bass, Toddla T made full use of his summer hols to Jamacia where his was working with Major Lazer. Having found his way to the legendary Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Wayne Marshall wandered in and before you know it, ‘Sky Surfing’ was done.

And gets some of mates on the remix too like youngsters Benga (who was also at Big Chill as part to the dubstep supergroup, Magnetic Man on the Friday - see review HERE) and Douster vs. oldsters DJ Q and Ross Orton.

In truth, there’s not much between them as this “teaser” and his shows on his shows on BBC Radio 1 (“he’s the best DJ on the station”, Gilles Peterson) will keep your bass bins happy until the album comes out in 2011.

So until then, here’s some more on the XX anniversary (see HERE) and get high on the UK and JA connection!
