Unique 3 - Invasive Signals

This is an album in two parts. Part one plays like a Radio 1 mix to start with but by the time you hit track 3, the suitably entitled ‘Serial Killer’, you know you’re in for a large one…

Unique3

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Unique 3, aka Edzy, are much in demand as a DJs all over the UK and Europe ever since the much loved, compiled and remixed ‘The Theme’ came out in 1989. This was a time when the likes of The Chems, Photek and WARP Records were on a high (WARP still are but it’s a different high now, see Flying Lotus),

With all the nu-rave indie bands finding their take on the scene and the Kings Of Electro coming out on Rapster shortly, what better time for Invasive Signals to re-energise the sounds of the past 20 years?

For all you students, who were on the same planet as Josh Wink’s Acid Classics as there’s room for ‘popular’ styled vocals tracks like the anthemic ‘Open Up Your Mind’ or ‘Take This Love’. But ‘I’m The…’ is a big tune from the naughty step.

Is there a candidate for a Christian Prommer’s Drumlesson jazz rework? ‘Draw The Line’ would be interesting as it’s got a heavy drum sound with a string like synth which matches Prommer’s ‘light and dark’ style.

For old skool hip hop fans, ‘Rocks The Bass’ sounds a bit obvious, but in a good way with squiggly synth and deep bass lines.

The album ends with five live bonus tracks shows us how to rock the house with the obligatory klaxons, whistles and glow-sticks. You’ve got to be in the right frame of mind for this.

His old mate, Greame ‘Hacienda’ Park gives it a seal of approval and as it’s been 17 years since the debut album came out, take advantage now while you can.

Fat! Records is the off-shoot of the Chew The Fat club that wil be celebrating its 10th Birthday in a couple of weeks (see details below). 1997 was a big year for start ups as Big Dada, Trunk Records and Sonar Kollektiv all celebrating their 10th birthday this year.

It’s party time for them yout’ all the time.

Hectic Mix nominations; ‘Rocks The Bass’, ‘I’m The…’, ‘Draw The Line’, ‘Serial Killer’, ‘Shades Of Grey’, ‘Them Yout”
