And to celebrate, there’s a launch party at AKA/The End tonight but not worry if you can’t make it as there’s a full nine days to get your act together to download these 10 tracks by some of our favourite established artists, some of our favourite artists of this year and some totally new names to us.

Headling the night is the talk of beat town, Hudson Mohawke with a forthcoming EP coming out on WARP, Polyfolk Dance (out 19th January). He’s been on tour with friend of FLY MamikO! (see Beat Generation Special) and it was she that put us onto another one of our favourites of the year, ‘I Know All The Bitches’ Bullion.

At the gig, Bullion goes head to head with Paul ‘For You And For Me’ White which sounds awesome.

The experienced folks are represented by Kelpe (as featured on DC Recordings’ Death Before Distemper) who’s done an exclusive mix and Marc Mac (he of 4hero) is represented by his old skool hip-hop head (aka The Visioneers).

So there’s quite a few artists and label’s I’ve not heard of but you may recall the mighty Tunng started on Static Caravan (the label is represented here by Yellow Moon Band). I’ve not heard of them either but that’s the point of the album, promoting great music on the “most forward-thinking music at the moment”.
