Azuli Records know their stuff as the CD starts with the edit by the rejuvenated master of the club edit, Greg Wilson. And do you remember Gilles Peterson was getting all excited about Todd Terje Re-edit of Chaz Jankel’s ‘Glad To Know You’ at the start of the year? Well, I’ll go as far to say Hercules & Love Affair remix of the ex-Blockhead’s ‘Get Myself Together’ that’s on this album is much better (yeah, definitely much better by far).

The current hot new things Friendly Fires’ get their hit ‘Paris’ remixed by the just as high flying Aeroplane (check out their Grace Jones remixes of ‘Williams’ Blood’) and Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve remix of Franz Ferdinand’s ‘Ulysses’ has been squeezed in to keep the kids happy; for more BTWS re-animations see a full album of them on Beyond The Wizards Sleeve Re-Animations Vol. 1.

Other names you’ll recognise are the (pre-Elektrons) Unabombers, Reverso 68 from Giles Smith and James Priestly’s Secretsundaze compilation (is that really Beardyman?) and DJ Koze (from Get Lost) but it’s all about the bass, the mix and havin’ a boogie (recommend ‘Hold On’ by Holy Ghost! for that but it’s all excellent).

And if you’re into the ‘laid back’ of Low Motion Disco and Marius Våreid, prepare yourself for the brilliance of Tosca’s new album, No Hassle and worth checking out anything on the home of leftfield disco, TIRK.

This album lifts spirits higher than a glitter ball and just what is required in these recessionary times (erm, like when Disco first time around). And is it my imagination, but it there a 24 hour TV channel theat plays Saturday Night Fever back to back? It seems to be everywhere at the moment but don’t get all Bee Gee, get the new 21st Century Disco that’s far better for your health.
