Following on from last year’s Vol. 1 of healthy d’n’b, dub, tech house, downtempo, folk, world and breaks, once again Pathaan helps out Platipus Records with the second edition of Globetronica. And as you’d expect, it is every bit of what it says on the tin, great tracks mixed by the ever excellent Pathaan.

The set kicks off with Nitin Sawhney, a Cotti remix of ‘Ek Jaan’ that’s indo-dubstep that’s an unexpected start as the following Nima Gorji track, the Latin soul house of a Faze Action remix of Da Lata (that’s so ‘in’ this year) and the big room of Shri’s ‘Adrenalin’; and this supposed to be the ‘Fusion Lounge’ CD of the two!

But he doesn’t stop there as you get ska, Dutch Rhythm Combo and Edu K go Baile Funk tropical disco on a Beastie Boys go to Brazil to get funked, how cool is that? With Simian Mobile Disco unusually getting a funked up feel in a dreamy type way (it’s a special remix that should have been on ?

The second CD is the ‘Eclectic Dance’ set and you couldn’t have called it better yourself as it starts with the Rickshaw Asian-house thing (The Orb), melds into big sweeping strings and horns of a Moricone soundtrack club friendly version (Pathaan mixing Stereo MCs) followed by our favourite, Ashley Beedle taking it to the darker side with some hi-energy dubsteppin’ WHOOAH!

And if that’s not enough, 50% of Major Lazer gets busy with Santogold, 50% of The Count & Sinden bangra it out before our mate and Funk Mundial mogul Daniel Haaksman, gets worked over by those Stereo MCs on ‘Who’s Afraid Of Rio?’

A hell of a tribute to Pathaan’s track selection and he keeps it hard, as if he’s riding the rickshaw in the Alps on le Tour. So heavy, the d’n’b of Klute is a rest! Only kiddin’ as the Redeye’s remix of Me&You is a rest is a monster (so we’ll forgive the punk-ska-world finish).

With recent Supperclub compilations (Beauty and Nomads 7) our man jumps ship
So Pathaan proves (once again) that he’s head and shoulders above others on the Asian Network that are too busy with TV commitments (ouch!. Sorry about that) but hey; you want the best, get Pathaan.
