Fans of Madtone will get the dubby darkness of Helvetikone who starts and ends this 12”. ‘Komm Und Geh’ tunnels the dark recesses of the mind on a malfunctioning Trans Europe Express. Regular readers will know Hectic will always give train-related music a positive reaction and this is no exception. The opener is similar in style but with more of a sporty inspiration; tennis or squash, I’d say. It’s been some wait since Helvetikone’s last release but ‘Komm Und Geh’ is definitely worth it.

And one dysfunctional train is closely followed by another with Bogger’s ‘Don Knispel’ but in this case, it’s first class, high speed, electro dub echoness. No idea who Don Knispel is but surely he deserves having a train named after him.

Jeff Pils’ ‘Hazelnut’ express is more on a digital broken beat while Menu:Exit take the pace into dubstep areas.

Miwon (aka Hendrik Kröz), who used to dwell in City Centre Offices, completes the EP with ‘Make My Day’ back on the train trip. Even with its J.-M. Jarre synth melody (OK, Tangerine Dream if you prefer), it’s still a great track. Don’t be too surprised if this turns up on a TV advert sometime in the future.

This label is the side project of Digital-Gadget radio show that has broadcasted in Berlin-Brandenburg and via the Internet since 2001. Well worth checking out on this basis.
