Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. July sees Tort on tour in Canada and Brazil before spending August in Europe as well as playing Ibiza (Amnesia) and his residency in Miami. His Nervous Nitelife mix compilation follows up on previous editions by Tom Stephan and Mind Control and keeps up the high standard. Coming from Spain, David has every right to be nervous but there’s more to him than that. As you can see from the tracklisting he’s a DJ/Producer/Remixer in his own right and has topped Beatport’s Chart with his own single, ‘Lost In Acid’. What he’s definitely got is a ear for big house and Latin percussion. The first half of the set is suitable warm-up buisness once we get past ‘Don’t Laught’ (sorry, it doesn’t make me even smile), he takes us up and up with a bit of Mind Control (with the Santana and Bailey remix of D-Unity’s ‘Shaman’), some serious mind expanding ‘Boogers’ and his own edit of ‘Egyptian Magician’. And if you want to get out of it even further, ‘The Words Of Wine’ is a suitable liquid treat with cow bell and ‘M.O.V.E.’ gets on the submarine sonar before dropping some ‘Cosmic Beans’. The CD finishes on his own track, ‘7Eleven’ by which time you’re thinking, Tort is so good, there ought to be a law against it. This is so much better than the remixes that he’s done for the likes of Tïesto and Nelly Furtado, Bob Sinclar, Ultra Naté or even Spanish Pop Diva Marta Sánchez and the American Idol, Blake Lewis. That said, it all puts food on the table and todate, he’s the only Spanish DJ to be invited to DJ at the Playboy Mansion; Old Heff knows talent when he sees it alright!
