V/A - Optimo Presents In Order To Edit (R&S Records)

“This Is Belgium, This Is Belgium, This Is Belgium” now if this was anything other else but R&S you’d have to laugh, but as it is R&S, it’s serious stuff.

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

It was only last week that I went to check out Nate Campany at Pure Groove (and very good he was too, see review HERE) and whilst I was there, I wasn’t the only one to notice the distinctive R&S Records stalion on a 12” cover on the wall behind the counter.

“I didn’t know they were still going” said a customer to the shop assistant and he started explaining that they’ve started up again. But we already know all about that from the In Order To Dance compilation from last year.

Optimo Presents In Order To Edit is like a Part II to the first compilation as Optimo (he of Sub Club 20 Years Underground) has got busy on this 22 track mix.

Apart from the “This is Belgium” intro, there’s a good selection of R&S favourites from Spectrum, Joey Beltram, CJ Bolland and Aphex Twin (yep, it’s the excellent ‘Analogue Bubblebath’ again). But it’s anything but old hat with the big O on the mix, with Lenny D and Eric Kupper (he of ‘Say That You Love Me’), and bass heavy acid trip from Beltram, Mundo Muzique, a storming of Speedjack and possibly the best of the lot, Sonic Solution’s ‘Bagdad’.

You can imagine Optimo banging on the doors of R&S to do this mix and if you’re a fan of either, you’ll be a fan of both so this is a must get and for students of mixing and house history of, it’s essential.

This so Belgium and I want to kiss myself.
