Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. The short answer is, unsurprisingly, no but just how could it be? Obviously it’s a different experience altogether but in comparison to Saturday night at the Big Chill this year (see review HERE), a double CD (mixed and unmixed) has a lot to live up to - but don’t let this intro put you off. That said, after a long extended weekend of hedonistic musical escapism, the first half of CD1 (the mixed version) is, stating the b obvious, at bit of a dance tent mix of Tom Middleton ‘remodels’ that comes alive with Agora Rhythm and Blu Mar Ten (featuring our favourite Ernesto but not like the Cargo gig, see review HERE). And when its “One More Tune”, it’s all out the big ones that blow up! You can’t get much bigger than Derrick May’s ‘Strings Of Life’ (as with Drumlesson in the same tent the year before at Big Chill) which Middleton spring cleans to great effect. A future big track could be Akabu’s ‘Phuture Bound’ that’s here in the Shir-I-Kan remix mode and unfortunately doesn’t feature on the unmixed CD. The set ends on a real high as The Horn’s ‘Village’ gets rolled out along with Joe Smooth’s ‘Promised Land’. You can’t get a much better craftsman on the decks than Mr. Middleton (who is the only artist to get two goes on 15 X 15 (Celebrating 15 Years of The Big Chill)!) and CD2 (the unmixed version) contains nine of the best of his remixes that really do live up to the “ONE MORE TUNE” chant. Even though you can’t say “I was there” with this CD, it’s not going to be the worst CD compilation of this year and definitely has it’s ‘Promised Land’ moments.
