DJ Paddy Freeform started Universal Vibes as an internet radio station five years ago and boast of top name sessions from the likes of Fabric (Steve Bug and DFA’s James Murphy and Pat Mahoney ), Mn2S, our old friend Enrique Domenech, Compost as well as treats from last years’ Bloom Festival.

So you get the idea that Universal Vibe has a wide ranging musical remit (does that remind you of anyone else?). This diversity of sound is reflected in this first release. These guys are a diverse group that’s reflected in there.

DJ producer Surra has mostly been involved in the remix community to date like David Borsu’s ‘Syncopassion’, Other World’s Max Cole. No surprise then that this guy is geting props from Benji B, Nik Weston and Kev Beedle as this is the downtempo jazzy hip-beats that we love to groove to.

‘Slow Burner’ ups the pace with a disco infusion of spacey belericia from Tim Scott. This has universal good time appeal that’s totally groovey.

Artizan Music’s duo of Jafar and Andy Touchfingers get deep into soulful house with a New Year’s resolution sounding track, ‘Don’t Rush To Find Love’. Vocals courtesy of Andy’s younger sister, the jazz singer Liz Baddaley. ‘Latin Shades’ ups the tempo once more and ends the set firmley in the instrumental House of old that’s very reassuring.

On the events front, preparations are in hand for 2008 for the launch of the label and a compilation release early in the year so expect to see DJ Paddy Freeform and crew at a venue near you soon.
