V/A - Vibrations From The Motherland

Nanny Tango is at it again on but a nifty 7” that we just can’t pass us by as we’re feeling those vibrations from the motherland

Nanny Tango

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Even more likely to go worldwide than their last top seller, ‘Cockney Bop’ by Trouble & Strife (as spotted in Inbeat Record Store on the boulevard Saint-Laurent) and Lorretta Heywood’s ‘Little Angel’ as head honcho Alan Gubby has released this single as a taster to a forthcoming 12” and a remix album!

He’s got his hands on the best of South Africa’s M.E.L.T. 2000 label and has lined up all your favourite knob twiddlers like Henrik Schwarz, Spiritual South, Mark de Clive Lowe, Jung Collective, Neon Heights, Jon Kennedy, Soothsayser and many more promised.

First up are Rare Moods from Paris with their pairing with Mabi Thobejane that harks back to ‘Desert Fairy Princess’ era with Thobejne’s reputation as the ‘Conga King’ this is just “the magic of the truth”. Black consciousness poetry and jazz trumpet meets the rhythms of the south. Fans of Anthony Joseph will love this. Just tell them they are beautiful, slaves to time as you just don’t want this one to stop.

On the reverse, Bo Anderson (aka Mag Bo) from Brazil and has got together with the Sangomas (best known for the Roni Size remix of ‘Siya Dengelela Kgonyama’) and “reggae singer” from the Gugulethu township, Teba Shumba. Dancehall toasting to a deep bass of a drum, almost bangra stylee. No idea on the message of ‘Abaphantsi’ but the vibrations are like deep vein trombone kisses.

Watch out for this musical energy and loud truth beyond 2000 as Nanny Tango knows best.
