Various Artists - Vocals and Versions Volumes 1&2

Bassline warriors unite. Senseless Records have just dropped two CDs of bass bin battering dubstep, dancehall, grime, bassline and garage vocals and versions to make your granny’s teeth rattle and they weren’t even born anywhere near Croydon

Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site.

Originally from Leeds, Deville, Sarantis and Sasquatch set up the label as a vehicle for their own productions but the crew soon expanded and after developing this far reaching project they’ve now got more family than your average rabbit.

What started as an idea for a simple vocal EP soon spread like swine flu to include, rappers, singers and dancehall MCs plus a host of production and remix talent worldwide from Sao Paolo to Martinique via Portugal, Kingston and New York.

Warrior Queen lends her rude gal dancehall vibes to remixes from two of today’s hotter than hot producers, the brutal King Cannibal industrial dancehall remix of ‘Retaliate’ and the Starkey dubstep refix of ‘More Than Money’.

Billy Nasty delivers the goods with a class roots reggae techno remix featuring Bunnington Judah from the Leeds sound system Iration Steppas who also makes an appearance on one of my personal favourites, the roots flavoured, dubstep banger, ‘One Day’ with it’s driving bassline and conscious lyrics

Just to highlight the album’s diversity the urban sound of Angola makes an appearance on the Kuduro inspired ‘Click’, the UK hip hop dons Foreign Beggars get all grimey on the firing ‘Stay Seated’ and Rekordah gets all futuristic and wonky with his remix of ‘Lifes Changin’.

Amazingly over two CDs the Senseless boys hold down the quality control and the vocals give the selection added depth and longevity. The vocal dubstep tracks in particular are a breath of fresh air for a genre which is saturated with instrumentals or tracks based on minimal vocal samples from the scenes young, low budget, bedroom based producers.

Oh yeah and if that wasn’t enough the CD itself is 100% Carbon Neutral and comes in a deluxe digipak case made from recycled materials and features hand drawn artwork from renowned Bristol, UK, graffiti artist Song.
