Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. Messrs. Pip and Le Sac are a suprise package, this Ventriloquist (aka poet/producer Chris Redmond) is on a mission putting his spoken word with jazz music. His modern day stories (fans include XFM’s John Hillcock, Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank and beatbox champ Beardyman). This is for fans of Anthony Joseph to Roger Robinson to Future Witness and all that Spiritual Jazz goodness at Favourite Things. And all things Nostalgia 77, Examples Of Twelves and Impossible Ark as the Ventriloquist band members are Tiu De Haan, Riaan Vosloo, Graham Fox, Ross Stanley, Chris Allard and Nick Etwell. There are four versions. The original, the instrumental, one by hip hop MC Ghost (not sure about the nusery rhythm interlude by jazz can be hard when it wants to be) and the other is a re-interpretation called ‘The Sun’s Lament’ by Musa. All are very different and Musa’s look at the world from the Sun [Ra] point of view as he raises the question, “Why didn’t Hitler get skin cancer?” All are well worth a listen and even better, all are free for a limited period only on myspace. Spoken word is back in a big way and look out for Ventriloquist at gigs and festivals in the summer. Forthcoming Gigs: Links |
