Please note this is an old page and Fly Global Music has now moved. Please follow this link and search for the entry in the new site. It’s precocious and catchy from the big beat grand opening of ‘Amor’, to the haunting and familiar sample of ‘I Only Have Eyes For You’ on ‘Eyes For You’ which also has some unexpected electric guitar. After that it heads into a more song-structured album, with catchy nuggets ‘Follow Me Home’ and ‘People Always Talk About The Weather’ which tread slightly less adventurous and poppy and dance ground. The pace picks up again with the rather excellent and almost Smithsy ‘Love Hides’ and then into heay trip hop on ‘Trains in The Night’, which has something of Massive Attack about the beats and Future Sounds of London about the production. Splendid Isolation is the followup to the 24-year-old Hungarian’s 2000 debut Shallow and Profound and makes more use of sweeping strings and electric guitar which gives it an edge on the first album. It doesn’t sound particularly Hungarian. In fact it doesn’t sounds particularly anywhere, which is really to Fogarasi’s credit. Varied and interesting and worth a dabble. Links: |
